Solar roofing integration is the roofing scope that makes a rooftop PV or thermal array successful: confirming the roof has 20-plus years of life remaining, flashing every attachment to manufacturer detail, and coordinating warranties between the roofing and solar manufacturers. Statesville Roofing provides this scope for commercial arrays across North Carolina.

A solar array is a 25-year asset. If it is installed on a roof with eight years of life left, the array has to come off, at significant cost, when the roof is replaced. And every attachment point is a potential leak if the flashing is not done by a roofer.

We assess roof readiness, replace or restore the roof if needed before the array goes on, flash attachments, and coordinate with your solar integrator so both warranties hold.

Questions to answer before installing rooftop solar

  • Does the roof have at least as many years left as the array?
  • Is the insulation dry? An infrared survey confirms it.
  • Can the structure carry the added dead load and wind uplift?
  • Who is flashing the attachments and who holds the warranty?
  • Are walkways and setbacks planned for roof maintenance access?
  • Would a reflective roof surface improve panel output?

Higher output

A cool, reflective roof surface can improve panel efficiency and building comfort.

How it works

Our four-step process

The same process behind more than 98,000 service projects since 1989. No surprises, no pressure, everything in writing.

  1. Consultation

Tell us what you are seeing and when you need it handled. A project manager, not a call center, calls you back.

  2. Inspection

We survey the roof for moisture, condition and remaining life, review structural capacity with your engineer, and meet with your solar integrator.

  3. Proposal

You receive a roofing scope sequenced with the solar schedule: any replacement or coating, attachment flashing, walkways and warranty coordination.

  4. Work & Quality Check

Roof work is completed and inspected before the array arrives; attachments are flashed as the racking is set, and both warranties are documented.

Good to know

PV & Thermal Solar Solutions questions, answered

Should I replace my roof before installing solar?

If the roof has less remaining life than the array, yes. Removing and reinstalling an array to replace a roof later typically costs far more than replacing or restoring the roof first.

Will solar panels void my roof warranty?

They can if attachments are flashed by someone other than an authorized roofing contractor. We flash attachments to manufacturer detail and coordinate warranty approval.

Do you install the solar panels?

We provide the roofing scope and work alongside your solar integrator, who installs the racking, modules and electrical.
